It's February already! Where is the year going??
How is everyone coping being back into the swing of [work] things?
If you've reached the point where you're itching for that 'break' already (we know you're out there…) maybe a Garden full of music, comedy, cabaret and circus acts is just what you need?
Enter The Garden of Unearthly Delights – they are celebrating their 10 year anniversary
this year as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival and it promises to be a spectacular affair.
We created an animated TVC that went to air last week to get everybody in the mood,
pop over to our Facebook page to have a look!
And who knows, maybe we'll see you there…
Another project from 2011 you may have missed was our involvement in the street art battle, War of the Walls.
Battle? Yes. We're talking 1 warehouse, 5 walls, 5 artists, 2 hours, 1 winner.
Epic – to say the least.
Here at Fancy, we like to support the arts where possible, that's why we were excited to be approached to sponsor this event.
We decided to film the action on the night and put together a highlights package that could be used to relive the drama and gain sponsorship for future events. It also provided the perfect opportunity for the directing debut of our newest team member, Jessica Allan (although, she is somewhat part of the furniture now…)
Click here to see the finished product on our facebook page…and while you're there,
feel free to 'like' us. We like you. And that way, you will be kept up to date with all the fun stuff we get up to!
And ready to throw ourselves into 2012!
Ok ok, so before we get too carried away, we have a couple of projects from 2011 that we didn't quite find the time to update you on. Here at Fancy, we can get a little carried away with all the shooting and editing and…Christmas lunches, that sometimes things just slip between the cracks, you know? But we're here now, and we've brought our broom!
So let's talk about colour. One of the exciting things about entering into the sunny seasons is the abundance of colour that seems to pop up everywhere. Whether it be in fashion, home or nature itself, there is no denying it is all around us. So when Dulux approached us to help them showcase their 2012 colour trends, we were ready.
6 room sets, 4 interviews and who-knows-how-many litres of paint later, we had the foundations to some pretty great footage, ready to inspire.
Head on over to the Dulux website, where you will be able to watch all 7 videos we created, featuring some behind the scenes insight from globe-trotting, colour specialist Andrea Lucena-Orr as well as design tips from Dana Tomic Hughes of Yellowtrace.
What more could you ask for when giving your house that summer-time spruce up?

This week we celebrate a milestone in Jess coming off her probationary 3 months...as if she wasn’t going too?
Within that time she’s gone from Ad Agency Art Director to Fancy Films Producer even running the show whilst the boss nicked off to Bali! Ouch. She’s managed our post production schedule, our shoots and most importantly our clients, what more could we ask for, especially when all of it is done with such a sense of humour and a style not easily matched.
Congratulations Jess...what would we do without you?!
For having two food related posts in a row! And while we do secretly partake in a little 'personal food critique' as we eat our way through the melting pot of dining experiences offered in Melbourne, one can't go past a deliciously fresh home cooked meal – made with love (and sometimes a little bit of sweat and tears, depending on the weather and the onion content).
Now what could be fresher than a beautiful misty morning, walking amongst the rows of cauliflower, broccoli and pumpkin, cameraman in tow? Well that's exactly what we did when we shot 6 POS videos for LaManna Direct. Aimed to promote and showcase LaManna's 'freshest 100% Australian-grown fruit and vegetables' philosophy, we spent a few days filming at the farms, following the produce to market, from market to the store and then onto the shop floor. FRESH. We also covered their meat, seafood, bakery, deli and 'Chef-in-a-box' departments.
You can see the finished product up on the LCD screens around the store…and while you're there, why not grab some cup cakes and come on over for a coffee. We like cake.

The weather is getting warmer, the sun is still around in the evening and we've even spotted a couple of spring chickens (well, baby swans) waddling around the lake.
Summer is on its way! Our favourite part about the sunny season? Aside from working 5min from the beach…is the time we get to spend with family and friends around the outdoor table (leaves brushed off, of course) while we pass around the salad bowl and have sword fights with the BBQ tongs.
Another person who shares our enthusiasm for good, simple food is the lovely Anna Gare, whom we had the pleasure of filming not long ago. Watching her make that caramelised leek pastry featured in her new cook book, Homemade, was enough to make us reach for the microfibre to wipe the drool off the lens.
There is something so fabulous about bringing people together over a meal and sharing good times, which is why we are super excited to be tuning in to watch gorgeous Anna this weekend as she mentors some spring chickens of her own.

We have just completed the second campaign for the CFA this time targeting tourists in bushfire prone areas. This project was made in conjunction with Tourism Victoria and was shot on locations from the West Coast of Victoria to the beautiful Macedon Ranges. This DVD will be shown in tourist information centres across Victoria.

We've recently updated the film to reflect the results of the Bushfire Royal Commission and changes to the Fire Danger Rating system.
Fancy Films is excited to be working with the Australian Government and Australia's agricultural export industries to highlight industry reforms and technology improvements to international audiences.

We're now in the middle of post-production and things are looking great. The six chapter DVD covers the meticulous export certification process ensuring our meat is of the highest quality.
Fancy Films is excited to welcome our Business Development Manager - Kate McCombie into our team. This year is shaping to be one of our most promising and creative years yet.
The Red One is great but the Epic will be.. well.. epic and it's coming to Fancy Films. Check out our recently updated Red page to see a brief list of what the camera is capable of.
