Working and living in St Kilda, it is always a special treat when we have clients from the local community. Ove such client who is especially close to our hearts is the Sacred HEart Mission. This year, the Sacred Heart Mission celebrates 30 years of service and hard work within the local community and we were proud to support them at the Heart of St Kilda concert back in June by creating a highlights video to be shown at the event.
The video, narrated by Marg Downey was a beautiful retrospective and celebration of the charity's work over the past 30 years and no doubt brought a tear to the eye.

Fancy Films has recently become a participant in the CitySwitch Green Office program. We acknowledge that climate change is a serious issue and that greenhouse gas emissions from the commercial building sector contribute to this global concern. We are pleased to support this program to raise awareness of the need to increase energy efficiency amoungst the business community and help improve the environment.
If your office would like to join us in helping reduce overall energy consumption, head on over to the CitySwitch website and have a read!
Have you ever noticed that movies often seem to be released in twos…whether it's a fairy tale, a disaster movie or an animation about animals, there will usually be two of them. Well, it seems that the same can be said for corporate video! Off the back of our new season launch for Jacqui.E came the new season Colour Forecast 2013 for Dulux. Having produced their previous colour forecast videos last year, we were armed and ready for the next colour explosion.
This time around we decided to mix it up and embrace a more eclectic approach. Over 2 days of shooting on location, we combined motion control timelapse techniques, behind-the-scenes footage and stills slideshows to create 7 short clips. The 6 beautiful sets (Blur, Seek, Merge, Share, Rise and Empower) were shot in gorgeous detail by the infamous David Rose and we had fun meeting Ella Leoncio from 'Pages from my Moleskine' and Miriam Fanning of Mim Design, as they took us through what inspires them when it comes to colour.
To view the finished videos in all their glory, head on over to the Dulux YouTube channel!
At Fancy Films, fashion is a topic of conversation that will come up at least three times a day - with or whithout visual aids, need we elaborate? ...so when Jacqui.E approached us to make a DVD to launch their Spring/summer collection to their staff, we grabbed our tote bags and headed to the catwalk.
Having previously enjoyed working with fashion-based clients Myer and Country Road, we were very excited to inject a bit of fun and a whole lot of personality into Jacqui.E's launch DVD. Armed with hair, makeup and clothing stylists, we spent a day at Rokeby Studios where we constructed a catwalk and filmed our lovely model showcasing the new season looks. We also invited trend forecasters and buyers from head office to come down to the studio to provide some insight on the upcoming trends.
The finished product was a 6 chaptered DVD celebrating the new season and capturing all sapects including behind-the-scenes, trend forecasts, store branding and merchandising, seasonal product on the catwalk, interviews with key staff and introducing their new brand ambassador, Tara Moss.
Now, to the shops!

Just call us Charlie, as it was only last week that we ran out of all the chocolate Kraft
so kindly gifted us for a job well done.
Since early this year, we have had the pleasure of working on various projects with the team at Kraft. These change management and marketing videos have involved interviews with staff as well as visits to sites in Melbourne, Hobart and Dunedin, NZ. We filmed the entire mouth-watering process of confectionary-making first hand, including the extremely important 'sampling' stage.
We also created a 5 minute video celebrating the history of Kraft and Cadbury as they journey towards their new brand identity of Mondeléz. Kraft has also invitd us to fim direct records of events they have held, including monthy forums and an activity-filled 'Top 100 Leaders' workshop day.
Long story short, we have absolutely loved working with all the lovely people at Kraft and we look forward to whatever they throw at us next! ...which is hopefully more chocolate ;)

Cold nights. Easter Eggs. Pretty sunsets. Birthdays. Rainy days. Poppies. Travel.
With the change of season, aside from bundling up in our winter warms earlier than expected, we have clocked up some hefty frequent flyer points with all the travel keeping us well and truly busy in March and April.
March saw the delivery of our latest project for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry. We filmed some stunning shots in Mildura, Orange and Bowen visiting cherry, citrus & mango plantations for a DVD for the Australian Horticulture Export Industry.
Back in our neck of the woods, we filmed and created a highlights package for the Greening for the Growth Forum hosted by the City of Port Phillip. Head over to their website to view the video in full and learn more about how you can save money and the environment with your business.
Next we headed to North Queensland, this time near Mt Isa for Ivanhoe Australia filming glorious aerial shots in the soaring 40 degree heat and spending a few nights at their mine site for their corporate overview.
Back in Melbourne we were hopping on and off trains for our friends at Metro and their latest instalment of videos announcing the new timetable.
We also welcomed THREE new clients to the Fancy Films stable – Alfred Health, Veolia Transdev and Australian Institute of Management’s new business IDRIA.
It's always exciting to work with new clients and having already completed a job for each there is never a dull moment here at Fancy. Veolia Transdev have sent us to film in New Zealand, Sydney and Western Australia, lucky the weather held out for this!
Bring on the snow.
Just when we thought Summer was closing it's doors early, Melbourne, true to form,
brings us glorious 32 degrees and sunshine…with even more on the way!
It's times like these that we feel so lucky to be working in such a beautifully diverse area.
In fact, while we're on the subject, not too long ago we completed a series of online videos
for the City of Port Phillip. The series was aimed at showcasing the highlights of doing business in the area.
The arts, the beach, the food, the culture…need we say more?
With interviews with business icons such as Harrold Mitchell and Guy Grossi,
this project was truly a treat and allowed us to share everything we love about our 'home'.
The videos are up to view in full on the City of Port Phillip business website
– have a look, who knows, maybe you'll start up shop next door!
It's February already! Where is the year going??
How is everyone coping being back into the swing of [work] things?
If you've reached the point where you're itching for that 'break' already (we know you're out there…) maybe a Garden full of music, comedy, cabaret and circus acts is just what you need?
Enter The Garden of Unearthly Delights – they are celebrating their 10 year anniversary
this year as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival and it promises to be a spectacular affair.
We created an animated TVC that went to air last week to get everybody in the mood,
pop over to our Facebook page to have a look!
And who knows, maybe we'll see you there…
Another project from 2011 you may have missed was our involvement in the street art battle, War of the Walls.
Battle? Yes. We're talking 1 warehouse, 5 walls, 5 artists, 2 hours, 1 winner.
Epic – to say the least.
Here at Fancy, we like to support the arts where possible, that's why we were excited to be approached to sponsor this event.
We decided to film the action on the night and put together a highlights package that could be used to relive the drama and gain sponsorship for future events. It also provided the perfect opportunity for the directing debut of our newest team member, Jessica Allan (although, she is somewhat part of the furniture now…)
Click here to see the finished product on our facebook page…and while you're there,
feel free to 'like' us. We like you. And that way, you will be kept up to date with all the fun stuff we get up to!
And ready to throw ourselves into 2012!
Ok ok, so before we get too carried away, we have a couple of projects from 2011 that we didn't quite find the time to update you on. Here at Fancy, we can get a little carried away with all the shooting and editing and…Christmas lunches, that sometimes things just slip between the cracks, you know? But we're here now, and we've brought our broom!
So let's talk about colour. One of the exciting things about entering into the sunny seasons is the abundance of colour that seems to pop up everywhere. Whether it be in fashion, home or nature itself, there is no denying it is all around us. So when Dulux approached us to help them showcase their 2012 colour trends, we were ready.
6 room sets, 4 interviews and who-knows-how-many litres of paint later, we had the foundations to some pretty great footage, ready to inspire.
Head on over to the Dulux website, where you will be able to watch all 7 videos we created, featuring some behind the scenes insight from globe-trotting, colour specialist Andrea Lucena-Orr as well as design tips from Dana Tomic Hughes of Yellowtrace.
What more could you ask for when giving your house that summer-time spruce up?
